Bei einem jüngeren Schlagzeugkollegen namens Felix nahm ich einen Konfigurationswandel an dessen Schlagzeugsetup wahr. Ein anderer kommentierte unter dem Bild auf facebook: Vom Benny Greb zum Jost Nickel-Setup.“ Aha? Felix ist Mitglied eines anderen Grebchestras geworden, vermutlich. Ist der Jost in ihm widerfahren? Was hielt ihn vom einmal Grebschen Jakobsweg nach Santiago de Rudimenstella ab? Equipmentfragen? Wie würde sich das eigene Schlagzeugspiel verändern, indem man das Setup ändert. Und warum überhaupt ändern?
Ich werde Felix das fragen. Vielleicht sagt er es mir. Disko No. 1 oder Grebchestra? Gut, das sind zwei Stiefel. Der Stadion Groove eines Jost Nickel – Ehre der Cowbell – versus Benny Greb Bigband Jazz in London, Buddy Rich Tribute Drummin. Ach, das sind Schimären. Der gute Drummer ist immer universell unterwegs, so wie Donovan, der Alt-Hippie, der mit den Beatles in Indien war und mit Rosemaries Baby, Mia Farrow. Wie der universal soldier, der weltbewegende Drummer sein sollte. All die Begriffe, die Donovan einsetzt, sind auch zugleich Marken, Hersteller, Aufbaufragen zum Drumset.
